The South Central Music Department has grown so much in the past 3 years! The elementary students better understand music by participating in weekly music classes. Students in the fourth grade and up can participate in band! Students are excited about learning to play instruments! Middle and High School students may participate in band and or choir. Mrs. Schukar and Mr. Lother are doing a fantastic job teaching our South Central students the joy of learning music!
With a large number of student participants, our district needs more instruments for students. Many of the instruments do not work correctly and need repairs. The music department completes fundraisers throughout the year to raise money, which is used to fund the yearly costs of regular items needed for the program.
The greatest need is for the purchase of percussion instruments. Several students across our district are interested in playing the drums, but due to limited instruments, students are trying to share instruments across three separate buildings or have been encouraged to try other instruments.
We have a great opportunity to double the money that is raised! Modern Woodmen Insurance Group has created a GoFundMe account for our Music Department with the goal of $ 2,500. If we can raise this money through the GoFundMe account, Modern Woodmen will match up to $2,500, which would provide our music department with $5,000 to purchase several percussion instruments to help meet the needs of our students!!!!
The Go Fund Me Fund account will only be open for a very short time. It will be open Saturday, Nov. 30 - Wednesday, Dec. 4.
