Re: South Central High School We are cooperating with all law enforcement agencies as they conduct their investigation. We are safe, we are always on soft lock down (doors always locked). Students and staff will remain inside the building until further notice. Please see the following press release from Fayette County. Press Release Fayette County residents: Earlier this morning at approximately 5:00 am deputies with Fayette County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on I-57 northbound near Farina, IL. While conducting a roadside interview with the driver, the passenger switched into the driver's seat and fled the traffic stop in the vehicle, a 2024 Infiniti SUV. The vehicle was located just north of a cemetery near 185 and 750 Ave. The passenger, now driver fled on foot in an unknown direction. A search of the area was conducted and the subject is still presumed to be in the area. The male subject is identified as Russel Rodriques Darnell, approximately 45 years old. Darnell is a black or African male with short dreadlocks, is approximately 5'07 and was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans when last seen. If subject is located in the area do not approach and contact Fayette County Sheriff's Office or area law enforcement immediately.

On April 4th, Pre-K had a visit from Meggan Hiestand from Ag in the Classroom. She read "Jack's Garden" to the students and showed them how to plant grass seed. They each took turns making their own grass seed heads. Their pictures were placed on the outside of their cups and we waited for their "grass hair" to grow. The pictures show the "hair growth" in a week and a half since her visit with us. Thank you Meggan and Ag in the Classroom!
